Salford City is proud to announce that three players have been nominated for awards at this year’s North West Football Awards!
Elliot Watt, who has already won a number of accolades for his performances in his debut campaign, has been nominated for both the League Two Player of the Season and The Athletic Rising Star of the Season. With 16 assists and a regular place in the top five for most chances created and passes completed, he rightly earned a place in the PFA and League Two Teams of the Season; won the Players’ Player of the Season; and the PFA Fans’ Player of the Season.
Lionesses stalwart Ellen Thornton has been nominated for the Women’s Player of the Season after completing another campaign with the team that she was one of the first players to join. She became the first player to reach 100 appearances for the Lionesses at the beginning of the 2023-24 season after missing just one game last season. During the summer she won three tournaments in Walking Football for both club and country.
For the second season running Lily Robinson has been nominated for The Athletic Women’s Rising Star award. The midfielder featured in every game of the 2022-23 season and scored her first goals for the Lionesses, resulting in her winning the team’s Young Player of the Year award. Her achievements for the Lionesses have all come on top of achieving a First in her University degree, and doing well playing Futsal.
All three need your votes before 5pm on Friday 29th September, after which each category will be shortlisted further for the awards ceremony which takes place on Monday 6th November.
Well done Elliot, Ellen and Lily, and good luck!
