Zach Jeacock under the lights at The Peninsula Stadium after signing on loan at SalfordSalford City is pleased to confirm the signing of young goalkeeper Zach Jeacock!

The 20-year-old arrives at The Peninsula Stadium on a season-long loan from Championship side Birmingham City.

Highly-rated in the ranks at St. Andrews having come through their Academy system from the age of seven, he recently signed a new deal to keep him at the Club until 2024.

Zach’s first experience of men’s football came on loan at Gloucester City in the National League North before he made his Championship debut for Birmingham last season.

Now the former England Under-19s international is excited about joining a Football League club on loan for the first time:

“I’m delighted, can’t wait to get going, can’t wait to start.

“I met the lads today, trained with them today they seem like a great bunch of lads. I spoke to the Gaffer, he seems like he’s got a great ambition for the season so yeah I’m delighted to be here!

“Hopefully to play as many games as possible, especially in the League, this’ll be my first League loan so I’m just hoping to play as many games as possible and help the team out.

“It was great [at Gloucester], men’s football is priceless for a young goalkeeper, especially in this day and age so it’s great to get here and hopefully I can make an impact.

“I’m really excited that I can be here for the season, get my head down, work hard and get ready to go.

“I like to think my distribution is good and I’m confident so hopefully I can bring that confidence out on the pitch.”

Following the arrival of Tom King earlier in the summer, Zach will provide good competition for a place between the sticks. Manager Gary Bowyer added:

“Delighted to have brought Zach to the Club, it’s his first loan to a League club, he’s coming in to provide competition for Tom King whose come in at the beginning of pre-season, settled in and done very well.

“Zach knows that he’s got a fight on his hands but it’s exactly what we want in that position just like every other position, it’s good, healthy competition.

“He’s a good lad, he wants to get better, he’s good with his feet and obviously he’s played for Birmingham’s first team so we know how good he is with his hands as well.

“He knows he’s got a big future ahead of him so hopefully this loan now will aid his development and we’re excited to have him in the building.”

Welcome to The Peninsula Stadium, Zach, and we wish you a successful stay with us!
