The Under-18s finish their season at The Peninsula Stadium on Friday afternoon when they host Accrington Stanley U18s (KO 15:00).

It’s been a mixed campaign for Luke Morgan’s side in the EFL Youth Alliance North West, where a seventh-place finish is achievable with victory against fifth-place Accy.

Fans are welcome to come and show their support for the scholars, some of who could be playing their last game for the Club, and others who could experience playing at The Peninsula Stadium for the first time.

Speaking in Monday’s matchday programme, Morgan said:

“After starting the season really strongly, being top of the league at Christmas and into the Third Round of the FA Youth Cup for the second year running, we made a conscious effort to start to really stretch the players individually.

“This meant we sent some U18s out on loan to experience non-league football; a valuable experience where they get to experience the more competitive nature of men’s football, and the pressure of playing in front of crowds for three points each weekend.

“This in turn allowed us to start to stretch our younger players in the squad and get them valuable minutes in U18s football. Whilst results took a dip, the learning and development is always our top priority and these players will be much wiser for it next season.

“The opportunities given to Kelly N’Mai are something we as an Academy are extremely proud of and it is our hope that he is the first of many young talented players we aim to bring through.”

The newest cohort of scholars were introduced to Ammies fans at half time against Mansfield Town.

Entry is via the West Stand turnstile on Nevile Road from 14:30, and supporters can stand in the West Stand or sit in Blocks Q or R of the South Stand. Admission is free, but there aren’t any refreshment kiosks open.

Salford City is proud to be a family club, and no inappropriate language, chanting or behaviour is acceptable.

We are looking for host families to accommodate some of our 16-18-year-old scholars moving away from home. We offer competitive rates, if you are interested in helping our next generation please email Kath Matthews (kath.matthews@salfordcityfc.co.uk) for more information.
