TOM WALKER ENGLAND ‘C’ CALL-UP ANNOUNCED

Salford City FC is delighted to announce that midfielder/forward Tom Walker has been included in the England ‘C’ squad for the international game -vs- Wales ‘C’.

ENGLAND ‘C’

England ‘C’ is the national side representating non-league football and was formed in 1979, the same year as the Football Conference.International games at that level have been played ever since.

TOM WALKER – BACKGROUND

Salford born Tom Walker (22) started out with Bolton Wanderers, making 20 first team appearances and scoring once. During a loan move to Bury he chalked up another 15 appeances, adding one more goal. Released by Bolton last summer Tom had a brief spell with Stockport County before moving on to FC United of Manchester.

WITH SALFORD CITY…

Following impressive performances against the Ammies during the festive period Tom signed on at the Peninsula Stadium in January. He made his debut -vs- Stockport County on the 6th of that month and has been ever-present since then. Already a favourite with Salford fans, a vital goal -vs- Harrogate Town certainly did his growing reputation no harm. A clever, creative player Tom is also a grafter and has already become a key member of a squad pushing hard for promotion.

ENGLAND ‘C’ CALL-UP

Unsurprisingly, Tom’s progress has caught the eye of England ‘C’ manager Paul Fairclough. He has been included in the sixteen man squad, largely comprised of players from the National Division. Gareth Seddon and Gus Mafuta won England ‘C’ caps while playing elsewhere but Tom is the first  ‘current’ Ammie to earn the nod.

It’s a great reward for Tom’s fine form as well as a feather in the club’s cap. We wish him all the very best for his evening with the three lions…
