Theo Vassell has signed a contract extension to remain at The Peninsula Stadium for the rest of the 2021-22 campaign!
The defender picked up an injury whilst on trial in the summer, and after recovering earned a short term deal with the Club in November.
He had to wait until the start of December for his first start, away at Mansfield Town, then he followed that up with 90 minutes in our last game against Stevenage.
With an intense January schedule looming the 25-year-old is focused on helping The Ammies use it to climb the League Two table:
“I’m very happy with staying longer, and I’m grateful to the Manager for believing in me. Since I’ve been here I’ve enjoyed being at the Club, it’s a good environment and I’m happy to be staying.
“Mansfield was my first game in nearly six months, so first one back I couldn’t wait to play and I thought ‘this is my opportunity, I’ve got to take it and do everything I can do stay in the team’.
“Then playing in front of our fans at home against Stevenage was nice, but we’ve had a few cancelled since, they’re coming up this month so there’s a lot to look forward to.
“We’ve not played a game since 18th December so for us to play some games will be good, but time will fly and before we know it these Saturday-Tuesdays will be gone so during this time we’ve got to pick up as many points as we can, then rest and recover so we’re ready to go for the next game.”
