Salford City football Club

Salford City is pleased to announce the signing of Stevie Mallan on a two-year deal!

The midfielder joins us after a spell in the Turkish Super Lig with Yeni Malatyaspor, becoming the Club’s third summer signing.

Born in Glasgow, the Scot started his career with St. Mirren and made over 100 appearances before a transfer to Championship side Barnsley in 2017. He returned north of the border a year later to sign for Hibernian, spent two-and-a-half seasons at Easter Road, then moved across Europe to sign for Yeni Malatyaspor after a loan spell.

Returning to the UK, the 26-year-old is looking forward to playing on home shores again:

“When I heard about it, the chance to play in England again, I wanted to do that. I’ve been away for the past year in Europe, so getting back to England was a big thing for me.

“What I want to do is play football so that was a big attraction as well, the amount of games you have in a season. League games, cup games, you’re not short on playing football every week so that’s pretty good, and obviously the ambition of this Club they want to go up as soon as possible, they want to keep going through the ranks.

“That’s something I want to do and help, try and get the Club promoted. I think that’s the main aim for this year to try and get up there and I want to do everything I can to help that and push forward.

“One thing I put myself on is set pieces so corners, free kicks and all that, it’s something I’ve always practiced and something I want to maybe bring here and help the team. If I get a few long range goals that’s pretty good, but hopefully I can score as much as possible, assist as much as possible, same as any other player, and get wins on the board.”

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Stevie and his family, and we hope you enjoy a successful stay with us! The deal is subject to EFL and FA approval, and international clearance.
