Fan Engagement

Article posted:

During Wednesday evening’s Fan Forum on Fan Engagement, Andrew Gordon, Salford City Football Club Fan Engagement and Experience Officer announced the launch of the new Soul of Salford Fan Representation Group.

With a number of specific Rep roles to be filled by fans, the group will meet bi-monthly, working collaboratively and directly with the Club to shape the future fan experience at Salford City Football Club. By bringing the Club and fans closer together, Salford City Football Club sees the Soul of Salford as having a direct and positive impact on how fan engagement and experiences are delivered at the Club and in turn see it as the perfect platform for the Club to be held to account if standards do not meet the expectations of fans.

The Club will now begin the application process for fans who wish to fill the following voluntary rep positions.

  • Away Day Rep
  • Committee Rep
  • Community Faith Rep
  • Disability Rep
  • Ethnic Minority Rep
  • Family Rep
  • Fan Rep (10 years +)
  • Fan Rep (less than 10 years)
  • LGBTQ+ Rep
  • Women’s Rep

To promote continuity the positions will be filled for a minimum of 12 months with an option of an additional year upon request.

Andrew Gordon saidThe last couple of years have been tough for football clubs up and down the country both on and of the pitch and things have been no different at Salford City Football Club. The momentum that we had built up on the terraces over a number of years was hurt immensely by the Covid-19 pandemic, but now, as we head into what will unbelievably be our first full season in the football league with fans and no operational restrictions, it is imperative we refocus our attentions to what the Club means to our city, our community and most importantly our fans.
We see the launch of the Soul of Salford fan rep group as the perfect way to do this, connecting directly with fans in a regular structured format, means we can harness what works and makes our Club special, be alerted to any improvements that need and should be made and also be held to account if we let our standards slip. First and foremost, I am a Salford fan myself and have been for a number of years and all I want is for the Club to be the best possible version it can be off itself both off and onthe pitch and I believe this is a huge positive step in the right direction.”
