Article posted:

Salford midfielder Jason Lowe puts pressure on a Tranmere player to win possession back at The Peninsula Stadium.Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two fixture between Salford City and Tranmere Rovers has been postponed.

Visitors Tranmere informed the EFL that they wouldn’t be able to fulfil the fixture due to a number of positive COVID cases in the squad.

An EFL statement added:

“In light of the increased transmission rate of the Omicron variant, the EFL will now review the circumstances surrounding the postponement. In addition it will assist affected Clubs throughout this challenging period to help them mitigate against the risk of infection amongst players and staff, while ensuring their obligations to the EFL regulations are maintained.”

We will announce details of a new date for the fixture once confirmed and arranged. Match tickets will remain valid for the rearranged game, or you can claim a refund if you can’t make the re-arranged date; tickets purchased through the Club’s website can be refunded online, or if you bought from the ticket office you will need to return the ticket(s). More information here.

In the meantime we wish the affected Tranmere players and any staff well, and send our best wishes for a full recovery.

Our next scheduled game is away at Newport County on Saturday 8th January, but is behind closed doors due to Welsh Government guidance. The following week, Saturday 15th January, we visit Bradford City. Match and coach tickets are available from the Salford ticket office, opening hours have been changed in light of this postponement so check before you set off.
