Wednesday night’s Sky Bet League Two fixture between Salford City and Carlisle United has been postponed.

Visitors Carlisle informed the EFL that they wouldn’t be able to fulfil the fixture due to a number of positive COVID cases in the squad.

An EFL statement added:

“In light of the increased transmission rate of the Omicron variant, the EFL will now review the circumstances surrounding the postponement. In addition it will assist affected Clubs throughout this challenging period to help them mitigate against the risk of infection amongst players and staff, while ensuring their obligations to the EFL regulations are maintained.”

We will announce details of a new date for the fixture once confirmed and arranged. Match tickets will remain valid for the rearranged game, or you can claim a refund; tickets purchased through the Club’s website can be refunded online, or if you bought from the ticket office you should visit or email tickets@salfordcityfc.co.uk.

In the meantime we wish the affected Carlisle players and any staff well, and send our best wishes for a full recovery.

That brings our 2021 to an end with our next scheduled fixture taking place against Tranmere Rovers on New Year’s Day. Thank you for your support, enjoy the celebrations and see you in 2022!
