Danny Whitehead scored in the 89th minute as Salford City beat Chesterfield 3-2 in the first meeting between the sides.
The Ammies were twice pegged back after going in front, with Adam Rooney and Carl Piergianni scoring the other goals, and it was the former Macclesfield man who notched the winner late on.

“It was swings and roundabouts wasn’t it, from one end to the other!” said manager Graham Alexander.
“The one thing I can say about the players is that their character and mentality to dig in against an excellent team, they threw everything at us, I’m delighted with and I thought our goals were real good quality as well.”
Current National League champion Whitehead opened his Ammies account and said it was a relief having missed a similar opportunity just a minute before.
