Salford City made it nine games unbeaten with a 3-1 win against Boreham Wood at The Peninsula Stadium.
Tom Walker scored his third goal in four games as quick as the second minute, before Mark Shelton’s headline second goal. Rory Gaffney made it 3-0 after the break with Josh Umerah pulling one back for the visitors shortly after.
Despite a stronger second half showing from last season’s play-off finalists, they couldn’t find a way through the Salford backline again and Graham Alexander says it was a fair result.
“The score line, I think it was the right score line and we deserved to win the game.
“In the second half it was a much more competitive game and the goal back gave them a glimmer of light.
“But the first half was very good, we played some incisive football and created numerous opportunities which we scored two from.”
Midfielder Shelton, who has started the last four games, capitalised on assisting Walker’s opener with a stunning strike from the right and 25 yards out.
“I’m sure someone said don’t shoot, but I’ve shot and it’s gone in!” said the 22-year-old.
“Sometimes they go in and sometimes they don’t!”
The Ammies return to action on Tuesday night against Hartlepool United at The Peninsula Stadium (KO 19:45).
