Our 2021-22 Sky Bet League Two campaign will kick off against Leyton Orient on Saturday 7th August!
For the eighth season in a row The Ammies will begin their league campaign on home turf, and it’s the second time in four seasons that Orient will be the visitors on the opening day after they came to Salford to open the 2018-19 Vanarama National League season. Stranger still is that the Os were also our last game of the 2020-21 season, when a Brandon Thomas-Asante brace helped us to a 3-0 win.
Following on from the opening day are back-to-back trips to the south against EFL newcomers Sutton United on Saturday 14th August, and Crawley Town on Tuesday 17th August.
The regular season will end away at Stevenage on Saturday 7th May.
Please note, all fixtures are subject to change and these should be considered as ‘draft’ fixtures.
Our first ever league meeting with Rochdale will take place on Tuesday 19th October at The Peninsula Stadium, with the reverse fixture also taking place on a Tuesday night, the 15th of March.
Meanwhile Oldham Athletic will visit The Peninsula Stadium on Saturday 27th November, and we head to Boundary Park on Saturday 23rd April.
Boxing Day’s entertainment comes away at Port Vale, with the New Year kicking off at home against Tranmere Rovers.
Following their relegation from League One, Bristol Rovers will become our newest opponents when they visit Moor Lane on Tuesday 23rd November, and we make the trip to the Memorial Stadium for the first time on Good Friday (15th April).
Sutton United are the Football League’s newest members after winning The National League in 2020-21. Gander Green Lane will have a different feel to it from our last visit in the National League as United have had to replace their 3G pitch with a real grass surface, and we will get to try it out as their first home league opponents on Saturday 14th August. They are scheduled to come to Salford on Tuesday 8th February.
Due to the pandemic we never visited Swindon Town in 2019-20; The County Ground awaits on Saturday 26th February.
The draw for Round One of the Carabao Cup took place on the same afternoon with The Ammies being drawn away at Derby County. Ties are due to take place in the week commencing Monday 9th August, although clubs may mutually agree to play it earlier.
In the Papa John’s Trophy we are in Northern Group B along with Oldham and Tranmere Rovers. Joining us will be Leeds United Under-21s, with fixtures to be determined now the group has been completed.
Our Emirates FA Cup journey will begin on the first weekend of November, with the first weekend in December reserved for the Second Round. The draw will take place sometime in October after the Fourth Qualifying Round.
