Salford City built on Saturday’s win at Ebbsfleet with another convincing performance against Sutton United on Tuesday night.
Mani Dieseruvwe scored his first league goal of the campaign as he lifted a shot over Sutton’s Ross Worner, before Carl Piergianni scored his ninth of the season when he slid Ibou Touray’s free kick under the Sutton keeper.
The 2-0 win draws us level with AFC Fylde on points although we remain in fifth, but Graham Alexander was happy with the continued mentality from the weekend.
“I thought the players approached the game in the exact same manner as Saturday and competed in the right way from minute one against a good team who test you in different ways.
“There was no let up in the players’ mentality or the way we went about the game. I thought we were deserved winners over the course of the 90 minutes and I’m delighted with another clean sheet which the whole team contributed to, and it was a really hard-fought and welcomed three points for us to follow on from Saturday’s game.”
The striker scored his first league goal since March 2018 when he struck in the 4-4 draw at Kidderminster Harriers.
Midfielder Mafuta has started the last two games and is hoping to fight for his place in the run-in.
