Salford City, Ash Hunter, Salford City 2-0 Bradford CitySalford City cruised to a first league win at The Peninsula Stadium since Boxing Day with a 2-0 win against Bradford City.

Ash Hunter’s third and fourth goals in three games were the standout moments of quality, and were enough to see off The Bantams who offered little threat.

With nine games to go now it was a great way to start the last couple of months of the season, and assistant manager Chris Lucketti praised a great performance.

“It was a great three points, tremendous and thoroughly deserved.

“They [Hunter’s goals] were top class and he’s a top class player, we know that because we’ve worked with him before and we knew what he’s capable of, and he’s showing it in every opportunity at the moment with two great goals today.

“Away from home certainly we’ve been putting teams to bed and we haven’t been able to get the breakthroughs here, but we controlled the game from start to finish, I thought we showed good composure, worked some really good opportunities and we took the opportunities when they came.”
Salford City 2-0 Bradford City, Ash HunterIt was Hunter’s first brace and the EFL, and he started it off with a cracking finish in the 10th minutes from 25 yards out after being allowed to advance from the left.

His second early in the second half put the game beyond Bradford’s reach as he was played through the left by Darron Gibson. Again he was allowed to advance and on reaching the top of the area let fly with a low shot to the bottom corner.

In added time he could have completed his hat-trick, but Richard O’Donnell was out to close him down one-on-one.

“It’s my first brace, I’ve had a few but the second one’s been disallowed and I was unlucky not to get my hat-trick at the end.

“I’d just say that with getting a good couple of 90 minutes under my belt after a slow start to the season back at Fleetwood, the Gaffer’s trusted me and obviously my fitness is showing and I’m improving every game.”

On closing the gap on Bradford and moving closer to the play-offs he added: “hopefully we can put a couple of results together and get right up there by the end of the season.

“It was a good performance today and now we’re going to focus on going away. Like I said our away form is good and we go there with high confidence.”
