Salford City 1-3 Dover Athletic, Salford City, Dennis Politic, The Peninsula StadiumDennis Politic scored a contender for goal of the season, but it wasn’t enough as Dover Athletic came from behind to win 3-1 at The Peninsula Stadium.

With new co-owner David Beckham watching on from the stands, the young Romanian on loan from Bolton Wanderers lobbed Mitch Walker from over 40 yards after a poor clearance by the keeper to open the scoring.

However Dover equalised before half-time when Danny McNamara pounced on a save by Chris Neal to tap in after 25 minutes. Then in the second half a header from Scott Doe and a strike from Jai Reason made it three goals and with it the three points for the visitors.

Salford stay in fifth after a bizarre afternoon in The National League where only Wrexham won out of the top seven. Watch the thoughts of manager Graham Alexander below.
