LEYTON ORIENT scored in the last five minutes to salvage a point at Salford City in the opening game of the season.
Rory Gaffney had opened the scoring shortly after half-time, converting Danny Lloyd’s accurate cross and sending the home supporters into elation.
However Orient bit back and with 86 minutes on the clock, a corner from Jobi McAnuff was floated into the back post where Craig Clay lashed the ball back across goal and into the net.
“We’re all frustrated at not taking the three points because we deserved it over the course of 90 minutes, I thought we needed to get that second goal to give us some breathing space,” said manager Graham Alexander.
“I thought we created some really good opportunities today and I was delighted with the way we played, I thought we mixed our game up really well.”
Summer signing Gaffney said he was delighted to get his first goal for the club.
Salford return to action on Tuesday night away at Gateshead (KO 19:45).
