SALFORD CITY return to action with the visit of Leamington this Saturday, on Non-League Day 2017 (Kick-Off 15:00).

The Ammies go into the weekend 11 league games unbeaten after the 1-0 win at Gainsborough a couple of weeks ago, and after a week without a game are raring to go again.

Leamington, on the other hand, have had two games in the last week in the Emirates FA Cup, where they lost 2-0 on Tuesday to Gainsborough after a couple of goals in the last five minutes.

In the league though, The Brakes are three unbeaten and are also three unbeaten in their last three away league games. Following a six game losing run, Paul Holleran’s men are finding their feet in the National League North after promotion from the Southern League last season.

However they are the league’s second lowest scorers with 12 goals, only North Ferriby United (4) have scored less, and this game is followed by games against York City and Harrogate Town.

Goals are the only thing keeping The Ammies off the top having scored 20 to Harrogate’s 35, however a sixth clean sheet at Gainsborough means Salford have the best defence in the league which full back Ibou Touray says is no coincidence:

“I’m getting to know the lads and we’re starting to play good football, it’s getting better each week.

“It’s not coincidence, it’s hard work on the pitch every day in training, every one getting to know each other better, the team chemistry’s getting better, so it’s all hard work that’s making us a better team.

“Every team that comes here wants to beat us.

“Leamington have just come out of the relegation zone so they’ve got a bit of confidence, and they’ll want to do well against one of the top teams in the league.”

We are proud to be supporting Prostate Cancer UK for Non-League day, keep an eye out for them around the ground! We also have face painting for children, and food and drink outlets in the fan zone so come down and enjoy your day out!
