Salford City Boston United

SALFORD CITY have the opportunity to go top of the National League North when they travel to Boston United on Tuesday evening (KO 19:45).

Saturday’s victory at Bradford Park Avenue kept the pressure on Harrogate Town, who won 2-1 at Alfreton Town.

Now going into Tuesday, The Ammies are just two points behind the league leaders who dropped points last Tuesday against BPA.

However to take advantage, Salford will have to do what they couldn’t manage last season and beat Boston.

The Pilgrims left The Peninsula Stadium with a point just over a year ago after a 3-3 draw, before recording a 2-0 win against 10-man Salford at The Jakemans Stadium in March.

That was their first win at home on a Saturday last season, having only won Tuesday night games at The Jakemans Stadium until that point.

This season though, Boston have had bigger problems with just three league wins all season, albeit all three have been at home.

Without a league win since the start of September, boss Adam Murray resigned after a 3-2 loss against Brackley Town on Saturday so The Pilgrims are in search of a new boss with Karl Hawley taking temporary charge of the team.

Return to Boston United

A familiar face to Pilgrims fans is solid centre-back Carl Piergianni, who helped the Lincolnshire side to successive play-off campaigns in 2014-15 and 2015-16.

After a spell in Australia, 25-year-old Piergianni returned to England in the summer to link up with The Ammies, and is in line to make his first appearance back at The Jakemans Stadium.

Mani Dieseruvwe also had a loan spell at Boston at the back end of last season.
