Salford City Pre-Season 2018-19: OUR PRE-SEASON CAMPAIGN IS TAKING SHAPE – WE NOW HAVE TWO HOME AND THREE AWAY FRIENDLIES LINED UP
The pre-season campaign gets off to a cracking start when League One side Fleetwood Town visit the Peninsula Stadium on Friday 6th July. The last time the ‘Cod Army’ played here competitively was in a North West Counties League game. Both clubs have come a long way since then and each has a new manager in place. Ammies boss Graham Alexander will be up against Joey Barton for what should be a mouth-watering curtain raiser. Kick-off is at 7.30pm with free admission!
On Tuesday 10th July the Ammies head to Cheshire for a game against old adversaries Nantwich Town. Our last visit to the Weaver Stadium was in January 2016 for a Northern Premier League fixture that ended in 1-1 draw. Earlier in the campaign The Dabbers had ended Salford’s FA Trophy hopes, winning the Friday night tie 2-1. It’s sure to be a stern test for Graham Alexander’s side and the game kicks off at 7:45pm. Admission prices will be announced in due course.
Newly appointed Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel brings his first team to the Peninsula Stadium on Saturday 14th July. The former Hannover 96 boss will be keen to take the Tykes back into the championship at the first time of asking. It’s another very attractive game, against a side that played their football in the Championship last season. Kick-off is at 3pm with admission prices set at £7 Standard and £3 for Concessions (Aged 60 and over, Ages 5-16, Students with ID).
The Cards played in the National League during the 2017-2018 but suffered the agony of final day relegation. A 2-1 defeat at home to Dover Athletic sealed Woking’s fate and they will now take their place in the National League South for the new campaign. On the back of that disappointment former Hampton & Richmond Borough manager Alan Dowson has taken the Woking hotseat. Assisting him as coach will be none other than Martin Tyler who has been a Cards fan for over 60 years and who at one time played for the club.
A new ground for Salford City and their supporters on Saturday 21st July, as well as foretaste of next season’s extensive travelling. Admission prices at the Laithwaite Community Stadium are £10 for adults and £5 for concession. Under 16s are admitted free of charge and kick-off is at 3pm.

The other confirmed friendly is closer to home as we renew acquaintance with our friends at Moss Lane. Altrincham were relegated from the National League North in 2017 but bounced straight back as NPL champions. What will be Salford’s final friendly takes place on Saturday 28th July at the J Davidson Stadium (3pm). No prices have been announced yet but if you have an Alty season ticket admission is free!
