Experienced full-back Scott Wiseman reunited with manager Graham Alexander by signing a one-year deal at The Peninsula Stadium ahead of the 2018-19 season, which he extended for the 2019-20 season.
Starting at hometown club Hull City, who he joined at six-years-old, Wiseman made his debut in 2003-04 before loan spells at Boston United, Rotherham United and Darlington, joining the latter after leaving The Tigers in 2007. That spell was marred by injury and Wiseman moved to Rochdale where he made over 100 appearances and won promotion to League One in 2009-10.
In 2011 the 32-year-old moved to Championship side Barnsley with manager Keith Hill and again made over 100 appearances in a three-year stay, captaining the side at times too. After being released by The Tykes, Wiseman signed for Preston North End and helped them to promotion to The Championship in 2014-15 before moving to Scunthorpe United in 2015.
Later in Wiseman’s first season at The Iron, Alexander was appointed manager and Scunthorpe finished just outside of the play-offs. They made the play-offs in 2016-17 but lost to Milwall in the semi-final and Wiseman was released, joining Chesterfield on a two-year-contract.
In his first year at Salford, Wiseman started every league game and both play-off games as we won promotion to the Football League for the first time.
