On loan at Hartlepool United until January 2020
Central midfielder Mark Shelton joined the club ahead of the 2017-18 season from Alfreton Town.
Born in Nottingham, Shelton was a youngster at Nottingham Forest before being offered a scholarship by Burton Albion. A regular in the youth team, the 22-year-old also made the bench for the first team on a couple of occasions but didn’t make a senior appearance for The Brewers and moved onto Ilkeston.
A short spell was followed by a move to Alfreton Town where Shelton scored four goals in 25 appearances as the Derbyshire outfit retained their place in the National League North, but Shelton’s eyes were set higher and in his first season with Salford he won promotion to the National League.
That became back-to-back promotions into the Football League in 2018-19, despite suffering a long-term injury, but he made a comeback at Wembley in time for the Promotion Final!
During the 2019-20 season, Shelton spent some time on loan at Woking in The National League.
Previous Clubs: Nottingham Forest, Burton Albion, Ilkeston, Alfreton Town.
