Talented midfielder Luke Burgess arrived at Salford in the 2019-20 season from Wigan Athletic.
Filled with flair and pace, the youngster was on the fringes of the first team but had to wait until November 2020 to make his Salford debut. It came away at Cambridge United as a substitute, but on his first League start Luke scored twice in a 3-0 win against Bradford City. He also scored the opening penalty as Salford beat Portsmouth in the delayed Papa John's Trophy 2020 Final at Wembley in March 2021.
Earlier in the 2020-21 season Luke had been on loan at AFC Fylde in the National League North, scoring three goals in four appearances. He had prior first team experience playing for Wigan in the EFL Trophy, and during a loan spell with Barrow in the National League in 2018-19.
