Pacy full-back Ibou Touray moved to The Peninsula Stadium ahead of the 2017-18 season following an impressive season at Nantwich Town.
Born in Liverpool, the 26-year-old started his career in Everton’s academy and made it to the Under-21s as a first-year scholar before being released in 2014. On his release, he signed a contract at Chester and made 19 appearances in The National League in 2014-15. The following season was spent at Rhyl in the Welsh Premier League, and 2016-17 saw Touray make over 40 appearances for Nantwich Town as they reached the Northern Premier League Play-Off semi-final.
In his first season at The Peninsula Stadium, Touray cemented his place as first choice left-back and recorded nine assists, the most out of the squad, as Salford won the National League North. In the summer he signed a one-year contract extension after a very impressive debut season, and in 2018-19 made it back-to-back promotions as we reached the Football League.
The step up didn't faze Touray who surpassed 100 appearances during the 2019-20 season on his way to winning both the Club and Fans' Player of the Year awards. He was also the winner of the North West Football Awards' League Two Player of the Year, and in 2020-21 earned a place in the League Two Team of the Season. In June 2021, Touray signed a two-year extension to keep him at The Peninsula Stadium until at least June 2023.
Internationally Touary has represented The Gambia, making his debut in 2015.
