On loan at Oldham Athletic until the end of the 2019-20 season.
Robust centre-back Carl Piergianni signed for Salford in summer 2017 after a spell in Australia with South Melbourne.
The Peterborough-born defender began his career with his hometown club in 2009, and won the club’s Under-18 Player of the Year a couple of years later. After a period on loan at Spalding United, Piergianni was named in a number of match day squads at The Posh, before being given number 17 for the 2010-11 season. He made his Football League debut in December 2010 against Rochdale before going out on loan to Altrincham.
Piergianni signed for Stockport County for the 2011-12 season then had a season at Corby Town in 2012-13 before signing at Boston United. In 100 appearances with The Pilgrims, Pidge was voted Players’ Player of the Year in his first season, twice named in the league’s team of the season, and reached successive play-off semi-finals in 2014-15 and 2015-16 before going travelling and signing for Australian side South Melbourne in 2017.
On his return to the UK in the summer of 2017, Piergianni signed at The Peninsula Stadium and instantly became a fans’ favourite, making the second most appearances and scooping the Supporters’ Player of the Year award. He repeated the accolade in 2018-19, adding the Players' Player of the Year award and winning a second promotion in two seasons as we reached the Football League. His 12 goals made a massive contribution to the season, including one at Wembley in the Promotion Final.
