THE prolific centre-back duo of Carl Piergianni and captain Liam Hogan were the victors in this season’s Salford City Player of the Year awards!
Supporters voted for left-sided centre back Piergianni as their Player of the Year. ‘Pidge’ has finished the season strongly with two goals and three clean sheets in his last four appearances.
“It’s a great honour to win the award,” said the 25-year-old, who has helped to keep a total of 14 clean sheets in the league.
“Especially in such a good season with such a good group of players here that we have, it’s a great honour so thank you to everyone who voted; it’s been an incredible year!”
He was run close by Hogan and January signing Tom Walker, who has scored six goals and assisted six since joining from league rivals FC United of Manchester.
PLAYER’S PLAYER OF THE Year
Club captain Hogan didn’t leave empty-handed though, and had his efforts and leadership rewarded by winning the Players’ Player of the Year.
The former Gateshead captain has scored four goals – three against York City – and kept 12 clean sheets this season, and has formerly won Player of the Year at FC Halifax Town and at The Heed.
“It’s a big honour to be picked, obviously over the course of the season you form a bond with your team mates, get to know them inside out and it shows a massive respect,” he said.
“I’ve come here, tried to give my best on and off the pitch, role of a captain, the lads have come to me and I hope I’ve been able to look after them.
“It’s a massive achievement and thanks to the lads who voted!”
