Salford City Lionesses have been reinstated to this season’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup, and will host Alnwick Town Ladies in the First Round proper.
The Lionesses were beaten in the Third Qualifying Round away at Barnsley Women’s FC, however after the game it was discovered that one of the opposition’s players hadn’t been registered and was therefore ineligible.
An FA investigation and hearing subsequently took place after Barnsley were charged with fielding an ineligible player, the outcome of which was that they should be removed from this season’s competition and Salford re-instated.
It means that Salford City Lionesses will compete in the proper rounds for the first time, hosting National League Division 1 North Alnwick on Sunday 14th November.
