Salford City Lionesses, Women's FA CupWe are pleased to confirm that our application for the 2020-21 Women’s FA Cup has been accepted!

It is the first time that the Lionesses have applied to play in the competition since forming in 2018, and marks another significant milestone in the team’s continuing growth.

Coincidentally, the Lionesses enter the competition in it’s 50th year; back in 1990-91, Salford City celebrated our own 50-year anniversary by entering the men’s competition as a result of floodlights being installed at Moor Lane meaning we met the entry criteria.

Commenting on the competition and the first opportunity to play in it with Salford, Lionesses Club Captain Ellen Thornton said:

“Being involved in the Women’s FA Cup for the first time is massive for this Club.

“Everyone wants to experience the magic of the FA Cup and it’s exciting that these girls now get the chance to challenge themselves hopefully against some big teams.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how far we can go!”

The Extra Preliminary Round is scheduled to take place on Sunday 6th September, followed by the Preliminary Round on Sunday 20th September and the First Round Qualifying on Sunday 4th October.

The draws for the Extra Preliminary and Preliminary Rounds will be released on Friday 21st August, and we will confirm individual fixture information closer to the time.

League dates will be announced soon, once confirmed.
