Josh Morris on the terraces at Salford City at The Peninsula StadiumSalford City is pleased to confirm our first summer signing as Josh Morris!

The midfielder arrives at The Peninsula Stadium on a two-year deal after a couple of seasons at Fleetwood Town.

No stranger to the manager, the 29-year-old worked with Gary Bowyer at his first club Blackburn Rovers from where he had loan spells at Yeovil Town, Rotherham United, Carlisle United and Fleetwood.

After a season at Bradford City, Morris moved to Scunthorpe United where he was top scorer for two seasons as The Iron finished third and fifth in League One.

Following their relegation in 2019 he returned to the third tier by signing for the Cod Army, and now he is hoping to win promotion to there with The Ammies.

“I’m delighted, it’s just nice to get sorted before pre-season starts again, then I’m just looking forward to getting going. There’s massive ambition here, I think everyone knows that already, I knew that before I spoke to the manager.

“Obviously working with Gary before was a big plus for me, he’s someone I’ve come through with and he knows how to get the best out of me and I know what he wants so I’m really looking forward to it. There’s been interest all summer, it’s good when someone wants you as a player, it’s up to me now to re-pay him.

“I spoke to Ash Eastham last week, he was full of praise for them and he signed from Fleetwood as well, he was just saying it’s a great place to play football and it’s a massively ambitious club as well so that’s the main thing.

“Ash Hunter I’ve played with as well, so I know him, and Jason Lowe I grew up with at Blackburn all the way through so it’s nice to have those familiar faces so I’m looking forward to getting going now.

“I play either left or right wing, get creative, I like to take players on and score and assist goals really, that’s my job as a player and hopefully I can bring that to Salford.”

Josh Morris shakes hands with Gary Bowyer after signing for SalfordHaving completed his first signing, the Gaffer added:

“I’m absolutely delighted to get the first signing for Salford on a permanent and to have got someone of the calibre of Josh is fantastic for me and for the Club.

“I know he’s going to score lots of goals and provide lots of assists so our forwards will be excited that we’ve signed him.”

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Josh and his family to The Peninsula Stadium, we wish you a successful stay!
