Salford City can confirm the signing of Jason Lowe on a three year deal!
The 28-year-old becomes our third summer signing following his exit from Bolton Wanderers at the end of June.
He spent two seasons with The Trotters after a year at Birmingham City in 2017-18, prior to which he had been a mainstay at Blackburn Rovers. Having graduated through Rovers’ Academy, where he joined as a 12-year-old, he made his debut in the FA Cup in January 2011 before coming on as a substitute in the Premier League away at Chelsea a week later.
A loan move to Oldham Athletic in League One followed, and that same year Jason was called up to the England Under-20 squad. He went on to captain the Under-20s at the 2011 World Cup, and later represented the Under-21s.
Having played in the Premier League, Championship and League One, Jason has experience of the levels above and is hoping to play higher up again with The Ammies.
“It’s an exciting project, an exciting challenge, one that I’m delighted to be on board with and I can’t wait to get going.
“Speaking with the manager they want promotion and it’s a simple as that, and as quickly as possible they want to be playing League One football next year.
“I share that ambition and I know the lads that are coming in share the same ambition, and the lads that are here will want to be on board with that, so to be part of that and fighting for that goal, I’m really delighted to be a part of it and hopefully add plenty in trying to achieve that.
“I think I’ve played everywhere to be honest with you at my previous clubs, but it’s one of them where the manager and the staff will put a plan in place to try and win on a Saturday, and whatever job they want me to do for the team, it’s all about the team winning and if they want me to do a certain job then I’ll try and do that to the best of my ability.”
During his spells with Blackburn and Bolton, Jason has captained the clubs and is another player who brings a leadership quality which Graham Alexander says he has been looking for.
“He’s another player we’ve brought in that fits the profile we’ve been looking for, a sort of captain, leader type to really strengthen the spine of the team; with the other signings we’ve made we’re delighted.
“His playing record is at higher levels than we’re currently at, and we’ve been speaking to him for quite a while now. We know we’ve got the player we originally wanted quite a while ago so we can’t wait to get started with him, and we know that he’s going to be another brilliant addition to the club.”
We would like to extend a warm welcome to Jason and his family, and wish you a successful spell here at The Peninsula Stadium!
