Salford City is delighted to announce the signing of striker James Wilson on an 18-month deal!
The former Manchester United academy graduate joins us from Aberdeen, where he signed in the summer after a loan spell last season. He notched four goals in 24 SPL appearances for The Dons in 2018-19, but this season hasn’t had as much game time.
A former England youth player from Under-16 to Under-21s, the 24-year-old has enjoyed previous loan spells in the EFL with Brighton & Hove Albion, Derby County and Sheffield United.
His Manchester United debut came in May 2014 against Hull City, when he scored twice in a 3-1 win at Old Trafford. Ahead of the 2016-17 season, Wilson started a pre-season friendly between Salford and Manchester United reserves and scored after three minutes in a 5-1 win for United.
Speaking about the move, the forward says he is excited by the challenge at Salford and that he is looking forward to becoming a part of the team.
Everyone at Salford wishes James a warm welcome to the club and back to the area, and we hope you enjoy a successful stay with us!
