James Melhado holds up a Salford shirt after signingSalford City is pleased to announce that James Melhado has signed for the Club!

The 20-year-old has penned a two-year deal at The Peninsula Stadium to return to full-time football after a spell with Newcastle Town.

A versatile player capable of playing at full back or in central midfield, James started his career with Wolverhampton Wanderers at a young age before leaving at 16. His next step was to join Burton Albion, where he captained the youth team on occasions before leaving.

After a couple of spells in the non-league circuit, most recently at the Lyme Valley Stadium, James is looking forward to progressing his career.

“I’m delighted, I can’t wait to get started now. I’m looking forward to next season and the challenges that it will bring.

“First and foremost is to get myself in and around the First Team, then take it from there really. My aim is to get in there, give it my best and see what happens.

“I like the guys and the coaching staff, how they push players forward and especially Warren, I think he’s someone really good at pushing players on.

“I was at Wolverhampton Wanderers from six through to 16, then I moved onto Burton Albion, then I’ve just been in non-league so I’m looking to get back into full time football now and take that next step.”

Welcome to M7 James, we wish you a successful stay with us!
