Salford City is delighted to welcome Ian Henderson to the club as our fifth summer signing!
The experienced forward joins us on a two-year deal following his departure from Rochdale after seven and a half years of service.
In that time the 35-year-old became the club’s second highest scorer with 126 goals, as well as winning promotion to League One in 2013-14 and captaining the Spotland outfit.
His career started in the Norwich City academy, after which he had spells at Northampton Town, Luton Town, Ankaragücü and Colchester before signing at Dale in 2013.
A proven goalscorer in League One, Ian has reached double figures in nine of the last 10 campaigns and is now excited by the prospect of a new challenge.
“I’m really excited, the challenge that lies ahead, I met with Graham and Gary and they put across their targets, their goals, what they want to achieve at the football club in the next two, three years and I was excited to be a part of that.
Ian’s first interview will be available in full later.
Manager Graham Alexander commented:
“Ian is another fantastic addition to the squad, a vastly experienced forward with a proven goalscoring pedigree.
“He’s a player I’ve admired for a good few years now and I’m delighted that we have the opportunity to bring him to our club.”
We would like to extend a warm welcome to The Peninsula Stadium to Ian and his family, and hope that his stay is a successful one!
