Graham Alexander was announced as the new manager of Salford City this afternoon, penning a four-year deal.
The 46-year-old made over 1,000 professional appearances during his career before moving into management. He guided Fleetwood Town up through the play-offs into League One in 2013-14, and led Scunthorpe United to the League One play-off semi-final in 2016-17.
Now the former Preston North End man says that this is “a really exciting opportunity” for both himself and assistant Chris Lucketti.
“I’m delighted to be here and hopefully we can continue that path of success that the club has been on.
“Only when you get to speak to the guys, listen to them, you see the detail behind the main picture. You see how much work has been put in place and how well everyone who has been involved in the past four years has done their job. There’s a responsibility on our shoulders now to continue that work and hopefully the qualities that we bring will marry well with what’s already here and we’ll get success.”
