Salford City is pleased to announce the signing of George Boyd on a deal until the end of the season!
The midfielder was most recently at Peterborough United for who he made 24 appearances last season, and scored in his only appearance in the EFL Trophy this season.
In total he made over 300 appearances for The Posh, mostly in his first spell when he won back-to-back promotions from League Two to The Championship between 2007 and 2009. He won another promotion with them from League One before joining Hull City and winning promotion to the Premier League.
A serial promotion winner, the 35-year-old had also been promoted to the top flight in a three-year spell with Burnley before spending two seasons at Sheffield Wednesday.
Boyd scored 18 goals in 66 appearances across his only two seasons in League Two and was selected in the 2007-08 PFA Team of the Year. Since then he has been a regular in the Championship and the Premier League, and reached the FA Cup Final and subsequently the UEFA Europa League with Hull.
The attacking midfielder is eligible for tonight’s game at Cambridge which Salford fans can watch by purchasing a match pass from live.salfordcityfc.co.uk. A first interview will be available later in the week.
We would like to extend a warm welcome to The Peninsula Stadium to George and his family, and we wish him a successful stay!
