New midfielder Elliot Watt at The Peninsula Stadium with a floodlight in the backgroundSalford City is excited to confirm the signing of midfielder Elliot Watt on a two-year deal!

The 22-year-old joins The Ammies for an undisclosed fee from Bradford City, where he has spent the last two years.

At youth level Watt represented Liverpool, Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End before joining the Wolverhampton Wanderers academy, and making his Wolves debut in the League Cup in August 2018 away at Sheffield Wednesday.

The former Scotland youth captain made a further five EFL Trophy appearances for the West Midlands outfit, including against Salford here at The Peninsula Stadium, before joining Carlisle United on loan.

Midfielder Elliot Watt signs a two-year deal with Salford CityFollowing that he was snapped up by The Bantams in July 2020, and arrives in M7 with 99 League Two appearances and six goals to his name, but he says that the lure of working with Neil Wood and the chance of a new challenge appealed to him.

“I’m buzzing to be here, the big thing for me was I wanted a fresh start, something new, some new challenges, and also to play under a Coach who I felt can improve me.

“The Gaffer was a big part of that with his background and the young players that he’s developed at Manchester United, I spoke to him and he was a massive part of why I chose to come here.

“I feel as though I can bring a lot to the team, I’ve got quite a lot of games under my belt even though I’m 22, so I feel as though I’m experienced at this level.

“My main qualities are in possession playing as a deep midfielder, getting the team playing and getting the ball into the attacking players to go and create chances and score the goals for us!”

We’d like to extend a warm welcome to Elliot and his family, and we hope you enjoy your time at The Peninsula Stadium! The move is subject to EFL clearance and ratification.
