Devonte Redmond, Salford CitySalford City is pleased to add Devonte Redmond to the squad after the midfielder signed a contract until the end of the season!

Former Manchester United youngster Redmond, 22, was released by the Red Devils in June 2018 having spent time on loan at Scunthorpe United last season where he played under Graham Alexander.

Having been without a club since June, Redmond is looking forward to getting back out on the pitch. He said:

“I’m delighted, obviously I’ve been out the game for a little bit but it’s a good opportunity for me now and I’m just glad that it came from such a big club.

“It’s a project, it’s a place that’s going places, and the owners of the club are legends so it didn’t take much to convince anyone to come and sign!”

It’s not the first time that Redmond has been to Salford having featured for Manchester United in pre-season games in a couple of previous years, and while it has changed the young midfielder is hoping to be part of the next evolution.

“I want to be getting forward, I want to be all over basically! I want to create some excitement, create some goals, score some goals and give the fans something to look forward to. I’m a box-to-box player so that’s what I’ll be trying to do, get on the ball and give fans something they want to see.

“I can’t wait! I’m just going to take it by the scruff of the neck, work hard, knuckle down and hopefully help the lads get promotion. That’s the aim and that’s what I’ll be hoping to do.”

Manager Alexander added:

“We’ve had him in for about a week, training, because when I signed him on loan previously I’d seen what he can do. He lost his way a little bit but he’s still got those attributes and those qualities so he’s trained really well this week, showed a really willingness to get his career going and I think his abilities fit the profile of what we need in the team.

“He’s a lad that’s got everything to prove really so I think it’s a great opportunity for him first and foremost, but if he takes that opportunity we’ve got a real good player on our hands to help us be successful.

Welcome to the club Devonte, we wish you a successful stay here at The Peninsula Stadium!
