DANNY LLOYD MOVES TO SALFORD CITY

Salford City FC are delighted to announce the signing of attacking midfielder Danny Lloyd from League One Peterborough United

CAREER SO FAR

Liverpudlian Danny started out with Southport in 2009 and had loan spells at Skelmersdale United and Chorley. In 2011 he moved to Colwyn Bay, returning to the Welsh club following a stint with Lincoln City.

Danny returned to the highest level of non-league football in January 2013 when he made the move to Tamworth. At the end of the season he returned to the North, signing for AFC Fylde. The Coasters secured promotion to the Conference North in 2014 with Danny finishing that successful campaign as joint top scorer.

Stockport County came calling during the summer of 2016 and Danny hit a spell of tremendous form at Edgeley Park. Salford City fans will doubtless remember his goals against their side during the following season and he ended up with a haul of 29. Unsurprisingly there was interest from the English Football League following the expiry of his contract with Stockport at the end of the season.

WITH PETERBOROUGH UNITED

League One Peterborough United won the race for Danny’s signature and he signed a 3-year contract with the Posh. He made his debut off the bench during the season opener -vs- Plymouth Argyle and scored his first goal against Northampton Town in the League Cup. He notched a hat-trick against Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup and by the end of the season had scored 13 goals in 37 outings.

MOVING T0 SALFORD CITY

The Ammies acted quickly when news came through that Danny Lloyd might be available for transfer. A fee was agreed with Peterborough and the 26-year old was keen to make the move, signing a 3-year-deal today.

Manager Graham Alexander said:

“We’re really happy and excited about signing Danny!

“We know the qualities he brings to us will certainly improve our team, and his appetite and endeavour will rub off on his team-mates.

“He’s a fully-committed player who works extremely hard for his team, and is very effective in the final third.

“The club have worked extremely hard to secure his signature and I’m delighted that Danny has faith in coming to us to fulfil his ambitions!”

This is a real statement of intent from a club that has secured 3 promotions in 4 seasons.  A quality acquisition and it will be fantastic to see Danny playing for Salford instead of giving us a hard time !

We’d like to welcome Danny Lloyd to the club and trust his time with us will be happy and successful
