It’s been a busy week behind the scenes and today we announce the signing of former Boston United defender Carl Piergianni
Twenty-five year old central defender Carl Piergianni has signed a two-year deal with Salford City following his return from a spell playing in Australia.
Peterborough born Carl started out playing in local football before being offered terms by his home-town club in 2007 and was named as Under-18 player of the season two years later.
He had loan spells with Spalding United and Altrincham then made his sole first-team appearance for the Posh in December 2010.
In June 2011 Carl moved north to sign for Stockport County and from there switched to Corby Town before arriving at Boston in May 2013.
Carl enjoyed a very successful time with the Pilgrims who reached two Conference North play-offs during his time with the club and he also picked up players’ and supporters’ awards in recognition of his huge contribution the cause. He was also included in a league team of the season during his time at York Street.
In 2016 Carl made the decision to leave Boston, moving to Australia where he turned out for South Melbourne F.C. who play at the country’s second level of football.
A tough, uncompromising central defender with a real eye for goal, Carl’s signing is another huge sign of intent from the club who are building a formidable squad for season 2017-2018.
We’d like to offer a very warm welcome to Carl and trust that his stay with is will be a happy and successful one.
