SALFORD CITY travel to league newcomers Blyth Spartans on Saturday looking to continue a run of six league wins in a row (KO 15:00).

Since a 3-2 defeat at home against Leamington, The Ammies have been in formidable form including keeping three clean sheets in those six games.

No goals isn’t something that Blyth are accustomed to though; they are the league’s joint-top scorers, but they have also only kept four clean sheets (two of which have come in their last two league games).

Following promotion from the Northern Premier League as champions last season, Alun Armstrong’s side have made a strong start to life in the National League North and are currently fourth, well within the play-offs.

However as league leaders it is Salford who are setting the pace and in this current run of form there is probably no better time to record a first win against The Spartans.

The Northumberland side have won each of the last three meetings between the sides including doing the double in the 2015-16 season, and come into this tie on the back of three consecutive wins.

Spartans’ top scorer Dan Maguire (13) has had a significant contribution to Blyth’s current berth, however the league’s second top scorer hasn’t played since a 4-1 loss at Bradford Park Avenue.

Meanwhile Salford’s top scorer Jack Redshaw was recognised for his four-goal haul in the last league outing against North Ferriby United by being awarded with the Vanarama National League North Player of the Month award.
