Ash Hunter, Salford CitySalford City is delighted to announce the return of Ash Hunter on an undisclosed transfer from Fleetwood Town!

The winger initially arrived at The Peninsula Stadium on loan in January 2020, and quickly became a fans’ favourite with his direct style.

Before the 2019-20 season was ended he was in fine form, scoring four times in three matches, including both goals in the 2-0 win against Bradford City.

In total he made 11 appearances, finding the back of the net five times, and will look to increase those tallies after signing a two-year deal.

The 24-year-old joined The Cod Army in 2014-15 from non-league Ilkeston and made over 200 appearances, scoring 38 goals.

Now he is hoping to pick up where he left off in the next step of his career:

“I’m buzzing to get it over the line, it’s been a while in the making but I’m glad to be back.

“It was nice to come in and get regular football again and hopefully I can pick up where I left off last season. I think we had a few good results and obviously if the season carried on we could have made the play-offs, but we go again next year and hopefully get promotion.

“As soon as the season ended I spoke to the manager about potentially coming back, he asked me what my thoughts were and I just said that I’d love to.

“I’ve worked with Graham obviously at Fleetwood before, and coming back to work for him again, he’s giving me a chance to play every week and that’s why I’m coming back.”

Graham Alexander, after signing the winger for a second time, added:

“I’m delighted to get Ash on board, everyone saw the impact he made after coming in on loan last season.

“He’s a player I know well, this is the second time I’ve signed him now after signing him as a teenager at Fleetwood. He’s a proven League One performer and goalscorer and we can’t wait to see him continue to show that ability for us at Salford.”

We’re delighted to welcome Ash and his family back, and wish him further success during his stay with us!
