Managers Anthony Johnson & Bernard Morley have strengthened their squad considerably with the three month loan signing of Nathan Arnold.

The Mansfield-born winger started out with his home town team and clocked up 113 appearances for the Stags, scoring fourteen goals.

In August 2009 he moved to Conference North side Hyde United and had a very successful spell at Ewen Fields, scoring 11 goals in 38 outings. One of those came during a thrilling FA Cup tie played on 6th September 2009, just after Salford had taken a 2nd minute lead courtesy of Ian Fitzpatrick:  “A fantastic start for Salford, but anybody who has been following their season so far might well have expected more goals before the end of this tie and in the 11th minute Hyde duly notched an equaliser. Nathan Arnold would prove to be a dangerous opponent all evening, and he posted notice of intent by curling a 25 yard free kick inside Andy Robertson’s right hand post” . The match ended 2-2 with Salford winning the reply 1-0 at Moor Lane.

During the summer of 2010 Nathan returned to the East Midlands, signing for Alfreton Town. The season that followed was memorable for both club and player as promotion to the national division of the Conference was achieved, with Nathan contributing 13 goals from 46 appearances in all competitions.

During the following couple of campaigns Alfreton maintained their national division status with Nathan consistently one of their better players.

That fine form earned a move back into full-time football with Cambridge United in 2013 and Nathan picked up an FA Trophy winner’s medal at the end of the season as Gosport Borough were beaten 4-0 in the Wembley final.

The 2014-2015 season was spent on loan at another then-Conference side, Grimsby Town and Nathan was a key member of the team. His two goals ensured play-off semi-final success -vs- Eastleigh and he set up Town’s goal in the final, although after a 1-1 draw Bristol Rovers secured promotion following a penalty shoot-out. The move to Grimsby was made permanent during the summer of 2015 and Nathan scored the third goal as Grimsby beat Forest Green Rovers 3-1 in the play-off final to cap another fine campaign.

In July 2016 Nathan signed for Lincoln City, scoring 13 goals in 52 appearances for the Imps as they won the National League title to secure promotion back to the Football League. City enjoyed a fantastic FA Cup run too, with Nathan scoring an injury time winner against Ipswich Town in the 4th Round. He also played in the 5th win at Turf Moor against Premier League Burnley and in the Quarter-Final tie at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.

An industrious, pacey and skilful winger who has an eye for goal, Nathan’s quality and experience will prove a massive boost to the Ammies as they look to secure a third promotion in four years.

He has joined Salford on a three month loan deal and will be available for selection for the game -vs- York City at Bootham Crescent.

We’d like to take this opportnunity to welcome Nathan to the Peninsula Stadium and trust that his stay with us will be a happy – and successful – one.
