Our mission is to build a football club with an academy based on core values of the Class of '92, where we will train the next generation of talent and where we will provide the platform for them to prove themselves upon.

The Salford City Academy was launched in July 2017 as the latest development in the Class of '92's ambitious growth plans for the club, providing the pathway for young talented players from the local area to train, learn, and develop.

Partnered with Trafford College, the first cohort of players entered a programme that provided top class coaching with excellent education, as well as extra-curricular activities to help them develop into well-rounded young people. In their first official match under the name of Academy 92 they went away to Leicester City and won 2-1 in a friendly.

In the first season most of the footballing programme consisted of friendlies and various inter-club tournaments, but without a doubt a run to the FA Youth Cup First Round proper was a footballing highlight. In the Preliminary Round we were drawn against Mossley, and under the Peninsula Stadium lights a solitary Dan Thompson-Edwards goal secured us a 1-0 win. In the First Qualifying Round we were drawn away at Daisy Hill, where a hat-trick from Anointed Chukwu and a Simeon Burrows goal earned a 4-1 win, and a tie against Warrington Town in the Second Qualifying Round. Back at The Peninsula Stadium it was Mani Ogunrinde who took the plaudits as his brace, including a direct free-kick and a stoppage time winner, resulted in a 2-1 win against the Yellows, and the winger then scored the only goal of the game in the Third Qualifying Round away at York City to send us into the First Round proper. A trip to Wrexham was the reward where the team found themselves 2-0 down early in the second half. However the boys showed tremendous character and after Clayton Gorman pulled one back, Harry Hatton made it 2-2 to force the tie to extra time. Marcel Wusiewicz kept it level with a penalty save and the tie ultimately went to spot kicks where the Welsh side progressed with a 4-5 win.

Another footballing achievement was the team being chosen to represent the Manchester FA in the FA County Youth Cup.
