SEVEN players from Academy 92 picked up awards at Trafford College last night as the Annual Enterprise Challenge Winners.
Sam Adetiloye, Daniel Bempah, Markell Foulds, Kamar Moncrieffe, Ibrahim Morris, Charles Voss and Nathan Wright all received the award after being crowned winners at the Altrincham Market Challenge.
As a team they came up with the idea of a one-minute ‘keepy-up’ challenge to raise awareness of homelessness, and raise money by selling merchandise and conducting a silent auction.
They were crowned Market Stall Champions 2018 after making their stall the most profitable.
“It feels great to have won because we put a lot of effort in, every single one of us, and it’s a reward for our hard work now,” said Wright.
“We put together a charity event, we went down to the Altrincham market and raised all sorts of money by doing raffles, keepy-up challenges and a silent auction so we won the award for raising the most amount of money and the most amount of sales.
“It was difficult on the day, going up to strangers, selling stuff, but it helped our confidence as a team, we had to go outside our comfort zones in order to raise the money for charity.
Midfielder Adetiloye added: “It was great on the day, and coming away with something like this is an achievement. On the day we raised the most money so we did well to come away with that.
“It’s an amazing feeling, unbelievable because I was coming in not really knowing what to do.”
Foulds, who made one appearance for the first team this season, also said the hard-earned award is something for the team to remember.
“It’s great, we grafted all day, stayed early until late and now we’ve come away with an award so it’s great memories.”
